The Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, has commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his leadership, describing him as a symbol of peace, unity and vision.
According to remarks delivered at the World Meets In Ghana Executive Dinner Ball on April 24, 2026, the event was held to mark the 27th anniversary of his ascension to the Golden Stool.
She stated that the Asantehene’s leadership continues to demonstrate how traditional authority can complement modern governance.
“His Majesty has shown over the years that traditional leadership and modern statecraft are not in contradiction; they are at their best when they strengthen one another,” she said.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia.
Also present were Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno and Bank of Ghana Governor Ernest Addison.
The remarks were made during the official programme attended by state officials, traditional leaders and members of the diplomatic community.
