The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested nine suspects in connection with an alleged robbery and murder incident at Fiapre-Zongo, a suburb of the Sunyani Municipality in the Bono Region.
According to a police press release dated August 6, 2026, the incident occurred on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m., when the Police received a distress call about an ongoing robbery at Fiapre.
The Police swiftly responded to the scene, but the alleged perpetrators had already fled. The attack was reportedly targeted at a mobile money vendor, Amina Abu.
GH¢30,000 reportedly stolen
Police investigations indicate that Amina Abu, 30, was attacked and robbed of GH¢30,000 in cash during the incident.
Four other individuals — Khadija Abu, 23; Anifa Tanko, 24; Ibrahim Osei, 40; and an unidentified man — were also reportedly hit by pellets from gunshots.
The victims were subsequently rushed to the Regional Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
Two people reportedly died
The Police said Ibrahim Osei sustained gunshot injuries after he came out of his room while the suspects were fleeing. He later died upon arrival at the hospital.
An unidentified man, who was found behind Ibrahim Osei’s house wearing a black mask and suffering from severe injuries, also died while receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, Police recovered six spent BB casings from the scene, which have been retained as exhibits for forensic examination.
