Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have announced the resignation of their Interim Head Coach, Prince Yaw Owusu, with immediate effect.
In a statement issued by the club, Owusu indicated in his resignation letter that his decision was taken in the “best interest of the club.” Management has since accepted his departure and expressed appreciation for his service, commitment, and contribution during his time in charge.
Owusu leaves his post after a mixed spell in the Ghana Premier League, where Kotoko endured an inconsistent run of results. The Porcupine Warriors, who have struggled for sustained form in the ongoing campaign, slipped off the pace in the title race following a series of disappointing performances that drew concern among supporters.
Despite flashes of improvement at various stages, the team was unable to mount a strong challenge at the top end of the table, with defensive frailties and dropped points proving costly in their league push.
In the interim, the club has appointed Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng to take charge of the senior team for the remaining fixtures of the season. He is expected to stabilise the side as Kotoko look to finish the campaign on a stronger note.
Further decisions regarding the club’s technical direction will be communicated in due course.
The statement was signed by Sarfo Duku Esq., Communications Director of Asante Kotoko SC.
