A 26-year-old man, identified as Ebenezer Frimpong, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly attempting to steal a police armoured vehicle at Nkawie in the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred when a police officer temporarily left the armoured vehicle unattended with its engine running while he stepped away to purchase medication.
The suspect is said to have seized the opportunity, entered the vehicle, and driven off. His actions triggered a swift response from the Ghana Police Service, who quickly initiated a pursuit.
The suspect was eventually apprehended near Atwima–Mim whiles heading towards Abuakwa, and the vehicle was successfully retrieved without damage. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Preliminary investigations are underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case, including how the suspect managed to access and operate the high-security vehicle.
The police have since reiterated the importance of strict adherence to operational protocols, especially regarding the handling of official vehicles.

Ebenezer Frimpong is expected to be processed and arraigned before court in the coming days.
