Renowned musician and philanthropist Kwame Nsiah-Apau, popularly known as Okyeame Kwame, has pledged to sponsor the construction of a state-of-the-art Pediatric Emergency Centre at Manhyia Hospital, which serves children from across Ghana.
Kwame Nsiah-Apau made his intentions known during the 3rd Wukudae observation on Wednesday April 8,2026 at Manhyia Palace, where he formally communicated the project plans to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The move highlights his commitment to improving pediatric healthcare nationwide.
“This project is very close to my heart. Every child, no matter where they come from, deserves access to quality emergency healthcare. This centre will ensure that children from every part of our country receive timely and effective medical attention,” Kwame Nsiah-Apau said during the audience.
Hospital administrators described the initiative as a major boost for national pediatric care. “Kwame Nsiah-Apau’s support will enhance our capacity to handle pediatric emergencies, reduce child mortality, and provide families with hope during critical situations,” said the Medical Director of Manhyia Hospital.
Construction of the centre is expected to begin later this year, with completion targeted within 18 months. Funding will cover building infrastructure, essential medical equipment, and staff training.
This philanthropic gesture aligns with Kwame Nsiah-Apau’s long-standing dedication to healthcare, education, and community development, reinforcing his reputation as one of Ghana’s most socially responsible public figures.
Once completed, the Pediatric Emergency Centre at Manhyia Hospital will serve thousands of children annually from across the nation, further cementing the hospital’s role as a leading institution for pediatric emergency care in Ghana.
