The Asante Mampong Traditional Area in the has officially enstooled a new Paramount Chief, Nana Osei Bonsu III, whose private name is Leslie Osei-Bonsu, following the successful completion of all customary and traditional rites.
The historic enstoolment ceremony was held in two phases and attracted a distinguished gathering of traditional rulers, queen mothers, government officials, and members of the public.
The first phase of the ceremony took place at Nkyenkuduase, where the then chief-elect swore the Oath of Service to the Nananom and the people of Mampong, formally accepting the responsibility to lead and serve the traditional area with integrity and commitment.
The second phase was held at the forecourt of the Mamponhene’s Palace, where the Mampong Atenankonwa swore the Oath of Allegiance to Nana Osei Bonsu III, signifying loyalty and support to the newly enstooled Paramount Chief.
Several prominent dignitaries were present to witness the ceremony. These included Berima Osei Hwedie II, Ejurahene; the Mamponhemaa; the Ejisuhemaa; the Agonahemaa; and the Ashanti Regional Minister, underscoring the importance of the occasion to both traditional and state authorities.
Also in attendance were representatives of Kwahu Amanhene, as well as the Zongohene of Mampong, highlighting the unity and inclusiveness of the event across ethnic and traditional lines.
Nana Osei Bonsu III will, at a later date, swear the Oath of Allegiance to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Asante Kingdom.
Traditional rites were performed to invoke wisdom, strength, and longevity for Nana Osei Bonsu III as he assumes leadership of the Mampong Traditional Area. The enstoolment marks the beginning of a new chapter, with high expectations for peace, unity, and development.
Residents and traditional leaders expressed optimism that the reign of Nana Osei Bonsu III will foster harmony and promote socio-economic progress within the Mampong Traditional Area and the wider Asante Kingdom.
