The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has officially launched its new Bottling Factory — a state-of-the-art facility aimed at enhancing the University’s production capacity in beverages and bottled water.

The inauguration took place on 29 November 2025, when the University’s 59th Congregation climaxed with a series of commissioning ceremonies. The event was graced by the presence of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and Chancellor of KNUST, alongside Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice-President of Ghana.

According to University officials, the new Bottling Factory is equipped with modern processing and packaging technology. This development is expected to significantly boost KNUST’s internal capacity to produce bottled beverages — a move that could support campus needs and possibly extend services beyond the university community.

The Bottling Factory forms part of a broader expansion that also includes a Multipurpose Laboratory, a Souvenir Shop, a newly established Institute of Rural Development and Innovation Studies (IRDIS), greenhouses, and a children’s park — all commissioned on the same day.

In his address, the Asantehene commended the university’s management, construction teams, and architects for their “diligence and teamwork,” noting that these new facilities represent a reaffirmation of KNUST’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and service to society.
